Houston Jazz Recording Artist Joe Carmouche has opened for or backed  Boney James, Michael Franks, Nancy Wilson, Nnenna Freelon, Joe Sample, Kenny Burrell, Marion Meadows, Hubert Laws, Jennifer Holliday, Kenny Burrell, Diane Schur, Kirk Whalum, Kyle Turner, Michael Ward, White, Doc Powell, Phil Upchurch, R. Kelly, Confunkshun Kirk Whalum, Najee, Mikki Howard, Bobby Lyle, and Everette Harp. Joe has also opened for Boney James, Michael Franks, Marion Meadows, Norman Brown, Peter White, Doc Powell, Lakeside and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.



Joe toured the U.S. with the world-renowned Kashmere Stage Band and won "Most Outstanding Guitarist" (Chicago) and "Most Outstanding Musician" (TSU). 

Joe is perfect for clubs, coffeehouse sets, parties, banquets or special events.  Joe averages over 150 concerts a year!  His Scott Gertner's Skybar happy Hour set on Wednesdays was distinguished as the longest happy hour gig in Houston!


In 1998, Joe released his debut CD “After Hours”  a CD that became a radio favorite. Joe credits Houston radio personalities Don Sam, Funky Larry Jones, Kandi Eastman, Jeff Kelley, and Kyle Scott Jackson with much of his radio success. In 2000, he released the award-winning CD, “A Touch of Jazz”, followed by his more recent release,  “Art of the Groove.”



Joe teaches Music Theory & Guitar at a local Magnet school in the Houston Independent School District. 

RECENT RECOGNITIONS:

Joe was twice nominated Best Jazz Artist at the Houston Press Music Awards. and received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee in honor of his musical accomplishments.


Joe has been named Outstanding Entertainer by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc..received an Honorary Gold Record from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his outstanding work in the music industry. 



Joe has released three CDs - After Hours,  A Touch of Jazz, and Art of the Groove. A Touch of Jazz was awarded Best Jazz Album

From 2002-2007, Joe performed at The Wave’s Wednesday After Work Escape at the Skybar for one of Houston's longest running jazz gigs (5 years).
